In the past year, Twitter has undergone a huge growth spurt. There are approximately 460,000 new accounts signed-up every day. Also, the tweets per day have tripled to 140 million. These numbers skyrocket up when there is a significant event like a celebrity death, a natural disaster or a major sporting event. For example, on March 11, the day of the Japan earthquake and tsunami, there were approximately 177 million tweets.
According to the most recent Pew Research Center’s survey, 13% of adult American Internet users have Twitter. Age, race, education level and geographic location also play a part in who is using Twitter.
So what does Twitter mean for business? Twitter is swiftly becoming the web standard for connecting with your client base and stimulating customer feedback.
