Sometimes video shoots don’t have the budget to cover all of the equipment we need to pull off our ideas. Sometimes you just have to rig something up and hope for the best. For a recent video shoot we had the idea to show off a turning stairwell that brought employees from the main area of the office to the break room. A frequented route by hundreds of employees per day, this stairway had recently been redone to feature a large light fixture that hangs over the middle.
To pull this move off we needed 100 feet of rope and a DJI Ronin. To test the shot we used our second-floor loft and our lightweight Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. Through trial and error, we finally got a shot we knew would work in our client’s staircase.
